Shaping the future of official statistics

 

Statistics Canada is pleased to announce that it is now possible to register for its 2024 International Methodology Symposium. It will be held at the offices of Statistics Canada in Ottawa (with an online option) from October 30 to November 1, 2024, with workshops offered in-person on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

The Symposium will include plenary and parallel sessions that cover a wide variety of topics examining methodological challenges related to the production of official statistics in a modern era. More information is available on our website [statcan.gc.ca].

The online registration form [statcan.gc.ca]* will be available for in-person and workshop attendance until September 30, 2024 and will remain open for online attendance until October 14, 2024.

Call for Contributed Papers 

Statistics Canada is pleased to announce that its 2024 International Methodology Symposium will take place in Ottawa at the offices of Statistics Canada from October 29 to November 1, 2024, including workshops on the first day. This year’s title is “Shaping the future of official statistics”.

We invite contributed papers that examine methodological challenges related to the production of official statistics in a modern era. Topics may include the following:

 

·     Record linkage and statistical matching

·     Data integration

·     Administrative and alternative data sources

·     Big Data

·     Sampling frames and sample design

·     Collection

·     Edit and imputation

·     Measurement errors and estimation

·     Small area estimation

·     Data analysis

·     Non-probability samples

·     Data quality

·     Disclosure control

·     Artificial intelligence and machine learning

 

Please submit your proposal here by May 3, 2024! It must include the following: a title, an abstract of approximately 250 words (in English or French), the topic(s) you are targeting, three to six keywords and your full contact information.

You will be informed whether or not your proposal is accepted by May 24, 2024. For all accepted proposals, the presentation (in English or French) is due by September 6, 2024.  Conference proceedings will be published online. A final paper must be submitted by January 10, 2025 for inclusion in the proceedings.
