One aim of the committee is \u201cTo enhance the ISI\u2019s support of the\ninternational statistical community\u201d. Other aims and its terms of reference are\navailable via the link:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isi-web.org\/index.php\/news-from-isi\/117-isi-publications-committee\">https:\/\/www.isi-web.org\/index.php\/news-from-isi\/117-isi-publications-committee<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>ISI\ncelebrations<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On 12\nMay at 13:00 (CEST), the ISI will begin the celebration of the International\nYear of Women in Statistics and Data Science (Florence Nightingale was born on\nthis day 200 years ago), the ISI\u2019s 135th anniversary (which falls on 24 June),\nand the official welcome for the 63rd ISI World Statistics Congress in The\nHague in July 2021. To mark the celebration the ISI will post presentations on\nthe above three topics on its website<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.isi2021.org\/international-year-of-women-in-statistics-and-data-science.html\">https:\/\/www.isi2021.org\/international-year-of-women-in-statistics-and-data-science.html<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>World\nStatistics Conference 2021 Short Courses<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IASS\nExecutive Committee plans to put proposals for short courses to the WSC 2021\u2019s<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Short\nCourse Committee. The focus is on short courses that promote continuing\nprofessional development and go beyond our usual statistical capacity building.\nIf you have any suggestions for courses and world-leading experts to present\nthem, please let James know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>COVID19\nSurveillance<\/em><\/strong><strong><em> Surveys<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>IASS will\ncollaborate with the Italian Statistical Society to develop survey methods for\nCOVID19 surveillance (See last month\u2019s IASS newsletter for information about\nCOVID19 surveillance surveys). This includes measuring the prevalence of\nCOVID19 in populations and its impact on well-being. It will finish at lunchtime on 10<sup>th<\/sup>, allowing\npeople to travel to the Hague, Netherlands for the start of the WSC 2021. More\ndetails will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Conferences<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to the corona virus pandemic some conferences have announced\npostponements, changes to format (from an in-person to a virtual conference) or\nsuspended registration. Other conferences are in the process of doing so. Where\nthis information is available, it has been noted below. This is a fast-evolving\nsituation so, if in doubt, please check the conference website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Late last\nyear, the IASS Executive committee decided to provide monetary support to five\nconferences during 2020. As mentioned, due to the COVID19 pandemic some of\nthese conferences have been postponed to 2021. When asked by conference\norganisers, the IASS committee has agreed to transfer that support to 2021. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upcoming IASS-Supported\nConferences Initially Planned for 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ICES VI<\/strong> &#8211; The International Conference on Establishment\nStatistics was planned to take place 15\u201318 June in New Orleans, U.S but has\nbeen postponed to 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/ices\/2020\/conferenceinfo.cfm\">https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/ices\/2020\/conferenceinfo.cfm<\/a>. <strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SAE2020- BigSmall<\/strong> &#8211; Conference on Small Area Estimation was to be held 6\u20138\nJuly in Naples, Italy, with the theme &#8220;Big Data for Small Areas&#8221;. Due\nto the corona virus pandemic, the conference will be held 5-7 July in Naples as\na satellite conference to the World Statistics Conference in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/sae2020.org\/\">https:\/\/sae2020.org\/<\/a>&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Summer School on Survey Statistics 2020<\/strong> was planned to be\nheld 24\u201328 August in Minsk, Belarus but it has been postponed. Details to be\nannounced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/wiki.helsinki.fi\/display\/BNU\/Events\">https:\/\/wiki.helsinki.fi\/display\/BNU\/Events<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>11e Colloque\nInternational Francophone sur les Sondages &#8211; 11th International Francophone\nConference on Surveys<\/strong> was planned for 13\u201316 October in Brussels, Belgium. It has been postponed. Details to be\nannounced soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;<br>\nWebsite: <a href=\"http:\/\/sondages2020.sciencesconf.org\">http:\/\/sondages2020.sciencesconf.org<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other 2020 Conferences on\nsurvey statistics and related areas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aapor.org\/\"><strong>American Association for Public Opinion Research<\/strong><\/a><strong>\nAnnual Conference<\/strong>\nwill be held 14-17 May in Atlanta, U.S. It will now be a virtual conference\nrather than an in-person conference. Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aapor.org\/Conference-Events\/Annual-Meeting.aspx\">https:\/\/www.aapor.org\/Conference-Events\/Annual-Meeting.aspx<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>17th IAOS Conference and the 3rd ISI Regional\nStatistics Conference<\/strong> due to be held 19-21 May 2020\nin Livingstone, Zambia, has been postponed to a date to be confirmed. Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/2020-iaos-isi.zamstats.gov.zm\/index.php\">https:\/\/2020-iaos-isi.zamstats.gov.zm\/index.php<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>12th International\nConference on Transport Survey Methods <\/strong>was to take take place May 31 &#8211; June 5 but\ndue to the corona virus pandemic it is currently planned for 25-30 October at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelgolfmarvimeiro.pt\/pt\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hotel Golf Mar<\/a> in Porto Novo (near Lisbon),\nPortugal.Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isctsc2020.pt\/\">https:\/\/www.isctsc2020.pt\/<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Symposium on Data Science &amp;\nStatistics<\/strong> is planned to take placeJune 3 \u2013 5 as a virtual\nconference. Website <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/sdss\/2020\/\">https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/sdss\/2020\/<\/a>&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Australian and New Zealand Statistical Conference<\/strong> was to take place 6-10 July 2020, Gold Coast, Australia but is now\npostponed to 5-9 July 2021. Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/anzsc2020.com.au\/\">https:\/\/anzsc2020.com.au\/<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Q2020<\/strong> -10th\nEuropean Conference on Quality in Official Statistics was planned to take place\n9\u201312 June in Budapest, Hungary. However, the conference will no longer take\nplace during 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a href=\"http:\/\/q2020.hu\/\">http:\/\/q2020.hu\/<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Joint Statistical Meeting<\/strong> with the theme <em>Everyone\nCounts: Data for the Public Good<\/em> will take place 1-6<sup>th<\/sup> August as a\nvirtual conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Website: <a href=\"https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/jsm\/2020\/index.cfm\">https:\/\/ww2.amstat.org\/meetings\/jsm\/2020\/index.cfm<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BigSurv20<\/strong> &#8211; Big Data Meets Survey Science was planned to be held\n4\u20136 November in Utrecht, Netherlands. This will likely not happen and\norganisers are considering a virtual conference or postponement.
